Wow. I wanted to make a temperature and vac pressure controller to use in the Maximite, standalone PIC based computer that I built from a kit a while ago. I wanted to be able to monitor the temperature and switch heat lamps on an off as well as keep the vac pressure within a range rather than at a set point.
Although I spent 5 years studying electrical engineering I can't design electronics to save my life so I thought I try outsourcing it via freelancer.com. Its the first time I've used it and after posting it up last night I now have 10 bids on the project from 6 different countries from people who've done electronics design up to military hardware levels!!!! Wow!!! Stay tuned for the outcome..

ReplyDeleteI built my self a control box with a PID controller from ebay, a K-thermocouple temperature sensor and a solid state relay. I am using a silicon heat blanket. Works very well.
The PID comes with a manual how to setup so it can be easily done in one night. I can send you some links and pictures if you need something, its quite easy and straight forward.

Hey Peter. I want it to be able to seperately switch the vac. pump and heat lamps. The problem I've been having is that with the reusable bag I am having a really hard time preventing small leaks because the bag turns out to be relatively easy to damage because its being clamped into the rocke rigs. The leak means that the relay on the compressor doesn't have time to cool down before the dropping pressure turns it back on and so the pressure cycles according to the heating and coolling of the solid state relay on the compressor. I want to be able to set a range of pressures to remain within. I though the reserviour would help with this issue ( slow the rate the pressure leaks but I don't think it was big enough to do the job).

Just awarded the project to guy in UK who sent a block diagram of the circuit and is going to draft the PCB's as well!!!!
